Interesting Facts On Nu-Wave Oven Uses
Using three basic technologies to cook food in a safe environment, the Nu-Wave oven cuts cooking time by 50 percent while using 70 percent less energy, right on the countertop. The beauty is it can also be used as a portable cooker at the campsite or can be taken to the relative’s house for those large holiday meals. Though some of the cooking technologies have been utilized in other appliances, the Nu-Wave cooker is among the first to blend the alternative styles into one unit.
Conduction, which is a heating element coming into direct contact with the food and convection which is having a small fan circulate the heated air around the food are two of the most common cooking methods in most portable cookers. The Nu-Wave cooker also uses infrared, a kind of glowing heat to prepare the food from the interior out. The current crop of this product is capable of baking a 10-pound turkey and with an optional expansion ring can hold up to a 16-pound bird.
When the Nu-Wave oven is first turned on, the invisible infrared beams, similar to the rays of the sun, begins heating the food with the rays penetrating the item with deep heating action to start cooking the food from the inside. The convection of the heat to the outer part of the food helps the cooking process from the outside and can, if desired, provide browning and cooking of the outer part of the food being cooked.
One of the advantages of employing a Nu-Wave cooker is that food doesn’t need to be unfrozen out and then was cooked. Even frozen turkeys with those annoying giblets stuffed within can be taken from the fridge to the Nu-Wave stove and the cooking can start. Simply flip the turkey in the cooker about halfway thru and pull out th bag of giblets.
Unlike microwave cooking, almost any sort of pan or implement you can use in a conventional oven can be used in the Nu-Wave oven. In addition, it is meant to come apart for convenient clean up. However, all parts of the Nu-Wave oven lock firmly together during use to prevent potential leaks of steam or hot air to prevent burns.
Another convenient advantage of the Nu-Wave oven is that different foods can be placed inside to cook at the same time. With different items in their own boxes, if it fits in the cooker, it can be cooked together.
What TEMPerature do i bake a 5 POUND chicken and for how LONG in a CONVECTION OVEN?
Hi, i need to cook a 5 lb. chicken tonite, i really would like to use my convection oven, but cannot find any info online how to bake a 5 lb. chicken with a CONVECTION OVEN, and at what Temperature & for HOW LONG?! Thanks!
I like 375 for about an hour and twenty minutes. Check with a thermometer, of course. The texture of convection chicken is really wonderful. Enjoy!
(PS the rule of thumb for convection cooking vs regular baking is reduce the temperature by 25 degrees and the time by 20-25%)
